There has been considerable concern that the population estimates published
by the Office for National Statistics do not accurately reflect the true
population of the Bradford District. When the first results of the 2001
Census were published in September 2002 they were subtantially lower
than was expected and did not match with local data sources. A number
of other local authorities have similar concerns. Bradford Council has
made representations to the Office for National Statistics on a number
of occasions. Below is a

the developments and alterations to the population estimates since the

of the inital results from the 2001 Census.
